Salt Lake City's Downtown Alliance will be holding its fourth annual Live Green: Sustainable Living Festival on Saturday at Library Square, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The aim of the festival is to acknowledge and reinforce Salt Lake City as a sustainable community, and Salt Lake Mayor Rocky Anderson will speak at 10 a.m. to kick off the event.
Businesses and organizations that embrace sustainable living practices and messages are being sought to participate in the event. Bob Farrington, the alliance's executive director, said organizers expect more than 50 exhibitors and several thousand people to attend.
The event will feature alternative transportation exhibits, sustainable building businesses and practices, regional speakers discussing climate change and community groups dedicated to environmental preservation.
Organizations interested in becoming involved with the event should e-mail Downtown Alliance Event Director Kim Angeli at kim@downtownslc.org or call (801) 333-1103.
The festival's sponsors include the Downtown Alliance, the state Department of Environmental Quality, Salt Lake County and Salt Lake City.
