Art Access, 230 S. 500 West, will have its fifth annual Art Access fund-raiser on Thursday, May 17, from 6-9 p.m. Part of the gallery's "300 Plates Fund-raiser and Exhibition," the event boasts 72 of Utah's best artists, a veritable "Who's Who" of talent, who have donated art created on a 10-by-11-inch recycled metal litho plate. Plates start at $65 and continue up in $1 increments. The cost to attend is $25 in advance and $35 at the door. Proceeds go to support the inclusive programs of Art Access/VSA arts of Utah. The Utah Arts Council will host the Mountain West Conference on the Arts on Thursday, May 10, and Friday, May 11, at the Utah Cultural Celebration Center, 1355 W. 3100 South, West Valley City. Conference sessions will provide an opportunity for creativity, networking, professional development and innovation for individuals through the Mountain West who are connected to the arts. The Intermountain Society of Artists will host a painting demonstration by Michael Malm, Utah figurative painter, on Tuesday, May 8, at 7 p.m. The event will take place at Wheeler Historic Farm, 5391 S. 900 East in Murray. For further information visit www.isartists.org.
