EAGLE MOUNTAIN City Council members in Eagle Mountain approved an increase to their monthly pay Tuesday night and established a salary for the part-time mayor.
Salaries will be increased from $325 per month to $500 per month. The mayor's salary was set at a part-time rate of $27,700 per year, including benefits all city employees receive.
Full-time mayors will receive $70,000 per year, including benefits.
According to a recommendation made by city manager John Hendrickson, future candidates for the mayoral position will be asked to declare ahead of the upcoming November election whether they will be running to be a part-time mayor or a full-time mayor.
The salary increase was approved by all members of the council except Councilman David Lifferth.
