Later this evening, players who were not drafted can sign free-agent contracts. Some local players who may sign deals include: Zac Collie, WR, BYU; Casey Evans, DB, Utah; Soli Lefiti, DE, Utah; Derek McLaughlin, P, BYU; Jared McLaughlin, K, BYU; Nate Meikle, WR, BYU; Hala Paongo, DL, BYU; Justin Robinson, CB, BYU; Eric Shyne, DB, Utah; Aaron Wagner, LB, BYU; Chad Glover, OL, Weber St.; and Patrick O'Keefe, DE, Weber St.
CONFERENCE CALLS
Five players from the WAC were chosen on the first day. Two from Hawaii, defensive end Ikaika Alama-Francis (Detroit, No. 58 overall) and center Samson Satele (Miami, No. 60 overall) were chosen in the second round, while Boise State safety Gerald Alexander followed at No. 61 to Detroit. In the third round, Fresno State cornerback Marcus McCauley was taken by Minnesota (No. 72) and San Jose State receiver James Jones (No. 78) was taken by Green Bay. Another Bulldog, receiver Paul Williams, was taken at No. 80 by Tennessee.
ANOTHER FROM UTAH
Former Highland High quarterback Stewart Bradley, whose high school career was hampered by injury, was chosen in the third round by Philadelphia. Stewart is a 6-foot-4, 256-pound linebacker who played his college ball at Nebraska. He had a team-leading 76 tackles in 2006 after suffering a season-ending knee injury in 2005.
