NUNSENSE A-MEN, currently playing in the Desert Star Dinner Theatre, 4861 S. State, Murray, has been extended — again — indefinitely, due to heavy demand for tickets. Artistic Director Scott Holman, who plays Sister Amnesia in the all-male edition of the popular off Broadway show, says the show has been selling out on weekends (266-7600).

The comedy has been extended before, but this time Desert Star is not announcing a closing date.

PROOF, David Auburn's Pulitzer Prize- and Tony Award-winning drama about the death of a mathematical genius and the alleged, unpublished "proof" of a questionable resolution found in his mostly incoherent notebooks, will play from Thursday through May 12 in a Pinnacle Acting Company production at the Midvale Performing Arts Center, 695 W. Center.

Directed by Jared Larkin, the cast includes Melanie Nelson as Catherine, an intelligent and emotional woman who has inherited both her father's genius and his mental instability; Mark Fossen as Robert, the deceased professor (who is seen in various flashbacks); Stein Erickson as Hal Dobbs, a former student searching through a roomful of Robert's notebooks, and Elizabeth Hale as Claire, Catherine's manipulative, estranged sister.

LILLY'S PURPLE PLASTIC PURSE, adapted by Kevin Kling from Kevin Hankes' popular children's book, is being presented from Friday through May 19 by the Children's Theatre of Salt Lake, 638 S. State.

Directed by Jennifer Parker Hohl and choreographed by Amy Richardson, the cast includes Caleb Ceran as Chester, Spencer Hohl as Wilson and Gary Ceran as Mr. Slinger.

The stage version is drawn from three Hankes books — "Lilly's Purple Plastic Purse," "Julias, the Baby of the World" and "Chester's Way."

Public performances will be Fridays at 7:30 p.m. and Saturdays at 1 and 4 p.m., with other dates added depending on the demand. All tickets are $9 per person. There is also a 10-pass ticket for $75 (532-6000).

YOU'RE A GOOD MAN, CHARLIE BROWN, the show that brought the "Peanuts" gang to Broadway, will be presented by the Taylorsville Arts Council from Thursday through May 12 at Eisenhower Junior High School, 4351 S. Redwood Road.

Cory Huff is directing a cast that includes Joel Kelly in the title role.

Performances are Thursday-Saturday this week and May 7, 11 and 12 at 7 p.m. All tickets are $5 each, available in advance by calling 963-5400 or at Taylorsville City Hall. Tickets may also be purchased at the door (cash only).
