If there is anything positive that has resulted from the shootings at Virginia Tech and Trolley Square, it is that society, by and large, has not become so desensitized to such tragic events that it is unwilling to reach out to those affected. I, for one, have heard many prayers and words of kindness spoken on behalf of the victims of both shootings.
We must never reach the point where we become so self-absorbed that our own pleasure trumps the need to reach out to others.
