Marcus Lamont Crocker, who is charged with capital murder in connection with the shooting death of a Korean university student working as a convenience store clerk, has been bound over for trial.

Third District Judge Sheila McCleve advanced Crocker's case toward trial on one count of aggravated murder, which can bring a death penalty sentence if Crocker is convicted. The judge also bound Crocker over for trial on first-degree felony obstruction of justice and second-degree felony possession of a dangerous weapon by a restricted person.

The judge dismissed one charge: first-degree aggravated robbery.

Prosecutors contend that Crocker, now 27, fatally shot Kang Ho Lee, a linguistics student at the University of Utah who was working in the family owned Sunshine Market on Sept. 6, 2001.

Crocker will be arraigned May 11 before 3rd District Judge Deno Himonas
