The uproar over Vice President Dick Cheney's visit to Brigham Young University on Thursday has drawn national attention because it is seen as a sign that the Bush administration's support is waning — even in a GOP stronghold such as Utah County. That's why the "CBS Evening News" with Katie Couric will tape the BYU College Democrats club making signs on Wednesday night and why Newsweek, CNN, the New York Times, the Washington Post and dozens of other media outlets around the country and even in several other countries have covered the story. Even Al-Jazeera posted a version of an Associated Press story on its Web site, although BYU student Carl Brinton said the station edited out the only paragraph that included an expression of support for Cheney.
