OREM About 200 students and employees of Utah Valley State College were evacuated for about 15 minutes Monday afternoon while a broken natural gas line was fixed.
A crew contracted by Orem city was installing a drain line about 1:20 p.m. with a trackhoe, Steve Chapman, Questar Gas spokesman said.
The trackhoe struck a 1 1/4-inch plastic service line for natural gas, Chapman said. Questar employees repaired the line in minutes.
The line was located near 800 South and 1100 West, near the Wolverine Service Center, a testing center for UVSC students, and two houses northeast of the testing center that are owned by the college and have offices in them, UVSC spokeswoman Megan Laurie said.
No one was injured in the incident.
