Applications are being accepted for artist booths and food booths at the 19th annual Bountiful Summerfest International Aug. 10 and 11 at Bountiful City Park.
The festival will have up to 50 fine arts and crafts booths and 12 ethnic food booths. The deadline for applications is June 4. Applications should be submitted as soon as possible as booth space fills quickly. Artist booth fees are $100, and food booth fees are $150.
This year the featured artist for the festival will be Erw "Ed" Napia. Ed was born in New Zealand, and his clay vessels and pots reflect the intricate patterns and symbolism of his native culture. Napia will also demonstrate the process he uses to create his art each day during the festival.
"Bountiful Summerfest International is a unique event for Utah residents," said Emma J. Dugal, executive director for the Bountiful/Davis Art Center. "Festivalgoers can look forward to feasting on a variety of ethnic food offerings, plus the opportunity to view and purchase wonderful art featuring notable artists from throughout the area. They will also see an array of diverse cultural entertainment by selected groups from around the world."
Bountiful Summerfest International is a program of the Bountiful/Davis Art Center and was started as an art festival in 1974. The program of international performances was added in 1988. The roots of the festival are grounded in the arts, and it remains a showcase for artists. "The festival creates an inviting atmosphere that celebrates art, culture, music and dance," Dugal said. "The cultural performances change daily, so residents will want to experience and enjoy events each day during the festival's run."
