Utah State

MEN'S BASKETBALL: Utah State's basketball coach Stew Morrill announced Tuesday the signing of Desmond Stephens (Bloomington, Ind.) to a national letter of intent. The 5-foot-9, 150-pound guard completed his sophomore season at Southeastern Illinois Junior College and will have two years of eligibility at Utah State beginning this fall.

WOMEN'S TENNIS: Utah State's men's tennis beat Idaho State, 5-2, Tuesday, as it improved to 8-7 on the season. The Aggies have gone head-to-head with the Bengals twice this season and were victorious in both matches.

Utah

BASEBALL: University of Utah first baseman Jay Brossman is among 30 college baseball players named as candidates for the 2007 Lowe's Senior CLASS Award. The nominees represent 29 schools and 19 conferences. Brossman is currently the top home-run hitter in the MWC and also ranks fifth in the league in slugging percentage and RBIs. MWC candidates along with Brossman include TCU's Austin Adams and New Mexico's Daniel Stovall.

BYU

MEN'S TENNIS: BYU men's tennis team concludes the regular season today against Utah State. BYU is 11-13 overall and 2-4 in conference play. USU is 7-7 on the season

GOLF: The 15-ranked Cougars host the 45th-annual PING Cougar Classic at the Riverside Country Club in Provo on Friday and Saturday.

Weber State

TRACK: Weber State athletes Lindsey Anderson and David Olson were honored Tuesday as the Big Sky Conference Track Athletes of the Week for their performances at the Mt. Sac Relays. It is the second weekly honor for both. Anderson of Morgan set a school record in the 3,000 meter steeplechase Friday in 9:46.00 bettering the old record by 12 seconds. Olson, a sophomore from Colorado Springs, reached the NCAA regional qualifying standard in the steeplechase with a time of 8:42.73. He was also the second collegiate finisher in the race, seventh overall.

Southern Utah

TRACK: Southern Utah will host Utah Valley State Thursday in the SUU Invitational.
