PROVO A Kearns man who police say hit his ex-wife and threw her cell phone against the wall when she tried to call 911 is in jail for investigation of aggravated assault.
The woman reported to police that on April 10 her ex-husband, 30, allegedly forced her into her American Fork bedroom, in a home near 400 N. 300 West.
Once there, he allegedly put a pillow over her face, according to a police report filed in 4th District Court.
The woman said the man later hit her several times in the face. She also had bruises on her arms, thigh and lower calf, according to the report.
All of the alleged abuse occurred with the woman's 6-year-old child in the room.
Police weren't able to find the man until Friday, when he was located at the 4th District courthouse in American Fork where he was appearing for a hearing, according to the report.
He was booked into the Utah County Jail for investigation of aggravated assault, domestic violence in the presence of a child and interruption of a communication device on $10,000 cash or bond bail.
