A collection of excerpts from Larry King's CNN interview program leads off this look at TV shows scheduled for DVD release on Tuesday.

TV series

  • "Larry King Live: The Greatest Interviews" (CNN/Warner, 1985-2007, three discs, $34.98). Uncountable celebrities from movies, TV and politics show up here in a variety of quick clips from King's nightly TV show. Many are lumped together with comments on related subjects and some are quite funny.

You don't care for Roseanne? No problem, Eddie Murphy or Paul Newman or Jennifer Aniston or Audrey Hepburn or (fill-in-the-celebrity-name) will quickly follow. (And yes, the Marlon Brando kiss is here, along with spoofs of that notorious event.)

On the political disc, former presidents are interviewed, from Richard Nixon to George H.W. Bush, with interesting stories to tell.

Even the bonus features, with King just sitting and talking about how he landed some of the biggies — such as Brando and Frank Sinatra — are fascinating.

    Extras: Full frame, featurettes

  • "Not Just the Best of the Larry Sanders Show" (Sony, 1992-98, four discs, $49.95). Fans want season sets of this HBO series that stars Garry Shandling, a witty satire of "Tonight"-type TV talk shows and show biz in general. But for now, in addition to the first-season set, they'll have to make do with this collection of 23 episodes from various seasons, and loads of bonus features focusing on Shandling and friends (to include Janeane Garofalo, Mary Lynn Rajskub, Bob Odenkirk, etc).

Extras: Full frame, 23 episodes, featurettes, interviews

  • "George Lopez: The Complete 1st & 2nd Seasons" (Warner, 2002-03, four discs, $39.98). This is a routine sitcom, bolstered by its Latino trappings and the charm and talent of its cast, headed by Lopez, an endearing stand-up comic. Producer Sandra Bullock is very funny in two episodes as a disaster-prone coworker.

Extras: Full frame, 28 episodes, featurette, bloopers

  • "Foxworthy's Big Night Out: The Complete Series" (CMT/Paramount, 2006, two discs, $26.99). This CMT cable-channel series has Foxworthy doing comedy skits in a family-friendly format, similar to the kind of down-home hijinks that marked his earlier "Blue Collar TV" series. Guests include country singers Kenny Rogers and Hank Williams Jr.

Extras: Full frame, 12 episodes, featurettes, monologues, bloopers
