As a repeat sponsor of a bill restricting the personal use of campaign funds, I read with interest Bob Bernick and Lee Davidson's article on state legislators' campaign account expenditures (April 9). The article may have left an inaccurate impression concerning my own campaign account. Reimbursements to me from my account were for loans I made to my campaign for expenses such as town meetings, constituent mailings and district projects expenses that were directly related to my duties as a state legislator.
I compliment Mr. Bernick for his coverage of campaign funding and use of campaign funds. His diligence in reporting on these issues promotes public awareness and encourages a close examination of the representatives we elect.
