PROVO — The Provo Board of Education said it will take a closer look at the potential closure of Grandview Elementary before making a final decision on the school's fate.

The board heard from a bevy of Grandview parents opposed to closure during Tuesday's meeting. A focus group will meet tonight at Provo School District offices, 940 N. 280 West, to further discuss the matter.

The school's fate is being affected by the planned fall opening of the new Lakeview Elementary. Proposed boundaries for that school will impact several existing elementaries, including Grandview.

"It hasn't been fine-tuned enough and, as a board, we haven't discussed it enough," said board member Sandy Packard regarding Grandview's fate.

Board members also said they would make a point to incorporate community input into the decision, a concern that many community members had brought forth.
