With the two local golfers, Mike Weir and Dean Wilson, fading from contention on the final two days, at least Utah golf fans can claim a connection with Masters' winner Zach Johnson.

The 31-year-old Johnson won the 2003 Envirocare Utah Classic at Willow Creek Country Club in Sandy on his way to gaining a regular spot on the PGA Tour. After winning in Utah, Johnson went on to be the leading money winner on the Nationwide Tour for 2003.

In his Utah win, Johnson came from two shots back on the final day to shoot a 65 and win by one shot over Bobby Gage with a 21-under-par 267 total.

Johnson went on to win the Bell South Classic in his first year on the PGA Tour in 2004 and finished 19th on the money list. Last year he represented the United States in the Ryder Cup against Europe.

Draper's Weir, who won the 2003 Masters, rebounded from his 80 on Saturday with a fine 1-under-par 71 Sunday to finish in a tie for 20th at 298.

Wilson, a teammate of Weir's at BYU who was playing in his first Masters, had his worst score of the week Sunday with a 78 and finished in a tie for 30th at 301.
