The Book Arts Program at the Marriott Library, University of Utah, will offer two community workshops in April.

What: Construction and Content: Distinctly Different Books

Beginning and experienced book artists construct five distinctly different books with content, based on work of other fine book artists.

Where: Book Arts Studio, J. Willard Marriott Library, Level 1

When:Thursday, April 19, 5-9 p.m. Friday, April 20, and Saturday, April 21, 9 a.m.-5 p.m.

Instructor: Calligrapher and book artist Faye Maxfield.

What: Means to an End: A Binder's Box of Recipes.

Learn to sew a variety of endbands, from historical to contemporary. Leave with a recipe box of samples for future reference.

Where: Book Arts Studio, J. Willard Marriott Library, Level 1.

When: Saturday, April 28, 9 a.m.-1 p.m.

Instructor: Pamela Barrios, noted for her book art and design bindings.
