Asked about a controversial proposal by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to build a skybridge as part of its City Creek Center development, Holbrook said she would oppose it unless it was "absolutely necessary to the economic vitality of the whole project."

Saxton, on the other hand, said the question should not be about whether the City Creek skybridge is appropriate but rather a question of policy. Instead of addressing the specifics of the church's request, city leaders need to come up with a guiding policy on skybridges in general that will lead to the best solution for the city regarding any future requests as well.

KUER last month hosted a candidate forum featuring County Councilwoman Jenny Wilson and former City Councilman Keith Christensen. On April 11, state House Minority Leader Ralph Becker, D-Salt Lake, and City Councilman Dave Buhler will face off.

Three other declared candidates — Centro Civico Mexicano director John Renteria, schoolteacher Robert Comstock and colorectal surgeon J.P. Hughes — have not been scheduled for a meet-the-candidates forum at the university.
