FARMINGTON Two bids have been submitted for the expansion to the Davis Conference Center, with groundbreaking expected April 11.
Both bids came in under the estimated construction cost of $9 million.
Ascent Construction bid $7.63 million for the project, and R&O Construction bid $8.01 million.
Noticeably absent from bidders were large construction firms of Layton and Big D, but Davis County Community and Economic Development director Wilf Sommerkorn said the larger firms are too busy right now.
County officials will review bid packages with their architect over the next week to make sure bids are in compliance with the building's requirements.
Commissioners are expected to award the bid during Tuesday's commission meeting.
The 40,000-square-foot addition to the existing conference center will feature a 17,000-square-foot exhibit hall that could be expanded to 24,000 square feet.
