By as early as next month, Mt. Holly Club hopes to put on the market, at varying seven-figure prices, a total of 1,204 home sites, mountain homes and condominiums, all with lift tickets and golf course passes attached. Many of the luxury home sites will be peripheral to the Jack Nicklaus golf holes (construction is scheduled to begin this summer) and the Ted Ligety ski runs (a total of 10 high-speed lifts are planned, with upgrades of existing lifts and construction of new lifts also scheduled to begin right away).

What that means is it will be physically possible to step off your back deck and immediately start golfing or skiing, depending on whether it's summer or winter.

"What we're offering is exclusivity, privacy and anonymity," says Salt Lake developer Craig Burton, one of the partners in the Mt. Holly Club ownership group. "This will really be about as high end as it gets."

It should come as no shocker that the target market area for the new Mt. Holly Club is not nearby Beaver, Milford or Paragonah.

The ads that are currently running in the Wall Street Journal, Robb Report and a variety of other upscale publications as well as a Web site (www.mthollyclub.com) are aimed at people who can get to Mt. Holly about as fast as you and I can get to Snowbird.

Consider that a private jet can fly from Las Vegas or from Salt Lake (both are a little over 200 miles away) and touch down at the Beaver airport in 22 minutes. From there it's an 18 mile drive up uncrowded Beaver Canyon to a land of no lift lines and no tee times.

And they'll start up your ski lift whenever you get there.

Put it that way and $3 million doesn't sound all that unreasonable.
