Several Utah schools made the list of top graduate schools in the nation, according to the latest issue of U.S. News & World Report.

The University of Utah made the top 50 in three categories, while Brigham Young University clinched top-50 spots in two categories and Utah State University landed at No. 26 for graduate education programs.

The U.'s Health Sciences Center came in at 45th for primary care, as well as 49th in the nation for research at the U. Medical School.

The U.'s Master of Public Administration programs ranked 46th in the category of public affairs.

BYU landed in the top 50 for its business program — ranked 41st — and its law school, which ranked 44th.

Outside of the top 50, the U. also moved up to No. 55 from its 58th place last year for the College of Engineering, as well as 69th for the College of Education.

The David Eccles School of Business at the U. ranked 63rd and the S.J. Quinney College of Law ranked 57th, both spots holding steady from last year's list.

The latest graduate rankings showed that six universities are new to the top 10 in the fields of business, education, engineering, law and medicine. They include New York University in business, the University of Washington in education, Cornell University in engineering, Duke University in law, and both Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons and the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor in medicine.

Stanford University is the only school to make it to the top 10 in each of the five largest graduate school disciplines.

The U.S. News rankings are based on two types of data — expert opinion and statistical measurements of the quality of faculty, research and students.
