The biggest benefits of the public offering, he said, will be the availability of financial information which is currently difficult to get and the opportunity for the public to voice concerns during shareholder meetings.
"While it doesn't mean that there will be more transparency from management, they will have to produce reports that will be accessible to the public," he said.
As of March 2007, EnergySolutions had more than 1,500 employees, including roughly 300 scientists and engineers and more than 200 radiation and safety professionals.
Credit Suisse, JPMorgan, Morgan Stanley, UBS Investment Bank, Banc of America Securities LLC, Citigroup, D.A. Davidson & Co., Friedman Billings Ramsey, Lazard Capital Markets and Wedbush Morgan Securities are listed as underwriters for the offering.
EnergySolutions was formed last year by the merger of BNG America, Duratek, Envirocare of Utah and the D&D division of Scientech. It had net income of $34 million on revenue of $427 million for the year. As of Dec. 31, the company had $764.2 million in total debt, according to SEC filings.
