GYMNASTICS: After posting a season-best 195.675 mark in a tri-meet win last week, the No. 24 Cougar gymnasts will look to carry that momentum into Friday's regular-season finale and senior night when they take on No. 6 Utah.

With a spot in the NCAA Regionals firmly in place, BYU is looking to improve its Regional Qualifying Score (RQS) and head into regional competition on a high note. The Cougars currently carry an RQS of 194.775 and are competing with Minnesota, who holds an identical 194.775 RQS, for the fourth spot in the North Central Region. The top six teams will move on to Regionals on April 14.

TRACK: The men's and women's teams will host six other major universities in the Wasatch region on Friday: Southern Utah, UVSC, Utah, Weber State, Utah State and Boise State will be competing at the fourth annual BYU Cougar Invitational.

MEN'S BASKETBALL: Southern Utah recently received the largest single donation in program history. Jon Huntsman Sr. donated a check for $50,000 to be utilized for improvements to the SUU basketball program.

"To have a guy like this on our team is really significant," new coach Roger Reid said. "I'm very appreciative of my friendship with Mr. Huntsman over the years and I can't tell you how much this is going to help our program."

GYMNASTICS: Southern Utah University will host the best of the Western Athletic Conference as six teams converge on Cedar City for the WAC Gymnastics Championships on Saturday.

SUU senior Leah Sakhitab will enter the meet as the reigning WAC Gymnast of the Year after claiming the all-around title in 2006 along with an individual title on the balance beam.

The Thunderbirds are currently second in the WAC in overall team score and in the top three in all four apparatus. SUU leads the conference in uneven bars with two potential regional qualifiers in Kellie Dangerfield and Erin Morgan. Dangerfield will also qualify on the balance beam with a top 30 ncational ranking on the event.
