The Bingham Canyon Mine visitors center is set to open Friday two days earlier than usual, Kennecott Utah Copper officials said.
The visitors center, located within the Bingham Canyon Mine, will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily through Oct. 31.
Last year, construction work and weather-related interruptions combined to delay the center's opening by three months.
Since opening in 1992, nearly 2.4 million people have toured the visitors center, Kennecott officials said.
Admission is $5 for passenger vehicles, $25 for mini tour buses and $50 for full-size tour buses. There is no charge for school buses, Scouts in uniform and vans from county-operated nonprofit senior-citizen centers.
