NEW HARMONY, Washington County Two men in a pickup truck were killed instantly when a cement truck lost control on I-15 and smashed into the pickup Monday morning.
John A. Kelson Jr., 51, and Martin S. Chipley, 45, both of New Harmony, were heading west in their vehicle when Kelson apparently noticed the cement truck moving into his lane. Kelson pulled the pickup to the side of the road in an apparent attempt to avoid the oncoming cement truck.
Utah Highway Patrol Trooper Jeff Nigbur said, despite that effort, the cement truck struck the pickup, killing both its occupants. He said the two men and the cement truck driver were all wearing seat belts at the time of the crash and the cause is still under investigation.
