WEST JORDAN — The Hampton Inn and Suites broke ground Wednesday in Jordan Landing for its newest location and also marked a momentous occasion in West Jordan's history as the large city's first hotel.

The hotel is being built at 3923 W. Center Park Drive.

The West Jordan Chamber of Commerce has long anticipated this day since the chamber's beginnings in 1986.

"Our community is growing rapidly in population and our economic development is simply astounding," says Craig Dearing, chamber president. "For several years we have searched for hotels to open in West Jordan to assist our residents and businesses with their needs. We are extremely thrilled to have this hotel in our community."

Once completed, the Hampton Inn and Suites will feature 108 rooms, 30 percent of which will be various suites; a pool, spa and fitness rooms, and a business center including a 1,800-square-foot conference center. The hotel will be approximately 70,000 square feet and will be next door to the Mountain America Credit Union corporate office in Jordan Landing.
