OREM Contemporary Dance Ensemble, a new pre-professional level modern dance company in Utah Valley State College's Department of Dance, will present its premiere concert in the Ragan Theater.
"'Breaking Bounds' will provide an evening of eclectic works that break bounds in its artistry, physicality, visual intrigue and provocative content," said Contemporary Dance Ensemble artistic director Doris Hudson-Trujillo.
The concert will feature several collaborative works, bringing to the stage the paintings of renowned artist and UVSC faculty member Hyunmee Lee staged by art faculty Simon Blundell and Jim Godfrey, the performances of poet, performer and UVSC Artist in Residence Alex Caldiero, the Utah Valley State String Quartet performing an original score by composer and UVSC professor Marden Pond, and UVSC's Synergy Dance Company.
UVSC dance faculty Hudson-Trujillo, Angela Banchero-Kelleher and Amy Markgraf-Jacobsen; and internationally acclaimed guest artists Charlotte Boye-Christensen, Susan McLain and Youseff Koumbassa each created works for the concert.
Contemporary Dance Ensemble provides opportunities for advanced level dance majors to perform contemporary choreographic works of the UVSC Modern Dance Faculty and nationally and internationally recognized choreographers.
