PROVO — A pair of college students stranded in Rock Canyon were rescued late Saturday night.

Emergency dispatchers got a phone call from the hikers at about 6 p.m. One had fallen about 15 feet and was unable to get off the mountain, Provo police said.

A search and rescue team located them and helped bring them down the mountain. Police said the women, 20 and 21, from Brigham Young University had gone hiking on Squaw Peak Trail and became disoriented. They tried to hike down the face of the mountain when one of them fell.

Her injuries did not require immediate medical attention, police said.
