PROVO A squabble between a gravel developer in south Provo and a local homeowners association will have to wait at least one more week before Utah County commissioners resolve the situation.
Scott Pettro, who owns a mining operation that's located in county territory, has asked commissioners to allow him to keep mining his property, which is located in a critical-environment zone.
Pettro has been mining his property illegally in the critical-environment zone, but in order to make his mining operations legal, Pettro has asked commissioners to change the area to an industrial zone.
Homeowners in the area have asked the commission not to change the zone but to allow Pettro to have a special exemption to finish his excavation and begin rehabilitating the area.
At a County Commission meeting on Tuesday, commissioners decided to delay making a decision on the matter for an indefinite period of time.
