Today, KUER FM90 and the University of Utah's Hinckley Institute of Politics will host the first of three meet-the-candidates forums as Salt Lake City prepares to narrow its field of 10 would-be mayors to two.
The forum will feature County Councilwoman Jenny Wilson and former City Councilman Keith Christensen.
A similar forum, with former state Democratic Party chairwoman Meghan Holbrook and City Councilwoman Nancy Saxton, will be held April 4. A third forum, featuring state Rep. Ralph Becker, D-Salt Lake, and City Councilman Dave Buhler, will be held April 11.
Four declared candidates Centro Civico Mexicano director John Renteria, schoolteacher Robert Comstock, colon-rectal surgeon J.P. Hughes and Arnold Matthew Jones have not been scheduled for a meet-the-candidates forum at the U.
Each of the forums will run from 11 a.m. to noon in the Hinckley Caucus Room, Orson Spencer Hall, Room 255 on the U. campus.
The forums will also be broadcast on KUER's "Radio West" program.
Another chance to meet the candidates will be at the U. College of Law's candidate forum March 26 at 5 p.m. All candidates will be invited to attend. That forum will be held at 332 S. 1400 East. A reception will follow.
All forums are free and open to the public.
