SETH DOLAR, Juan Diego: This senior catcher had a terrific first week for the Soaring Eagle baseball team. Dolar is a three-year starter and went 6-for-10 at the plate with three singles, two doubles, a triple and 10 RBIs. He also threw out three base-runners attempting to steal.

"He's learned his craft. He's been a student of the game and has come out really focused on what he wants to accomplish," said coach Steve Cramblitt. "He has worked very hard in the weight room to get really strong."

At 6-foot-4 and 195 pounds, he has all the physical tools to be an all-state caliber player, but his coach says that is not all.

"He is one of the nicest people you will ever meet. He handles himself very well and leads by example. The fact he has experience helps, and the kids respect that and look up to him."

CANDACE SMITH, N. Summit: This senior center is a 3-year-starter who works as hard off the court as she does during a basketball game.

She was the team's leading scorer and rebounder and led the Braves to back-to-back region 14 titles. Smith averaged 15 points per game, which made her the fourth highest scorer in 2A. She has several games with double-doubles and a season-high of 30 points in one game. She is a two-year captain.

She is the Braves' student body president and was North Summit's Computer Tech Sterling Scholar. She is a honor student who will graduate from high school with an associate degree from Utah State.
