PHOENIX The Utah Board of Pardons and Parole will take the request by polygamist Addam Swapp to be released from prison under advisement.
Swapp appeared for 90 minutes before a hearing officer from the parole board Friday. He is being housed in an Arizona prison for security reasons. The hearing was closed to the public and the news media.
"Members of Swapp's family were there. There was a representative from the victim's family," said Jim Hatch, a spokesman for the parole board.
A decision on whether to release Swapp will be made in about a month.
Swapp is serving time for the 1988 bombing of an LDS chapel in Kamas. The bombing sparked a 13-day standoff that ended in the death of Utah Department of Corrections Lt. Fred House. Swapp was convicted of manslaughter in connection with the death.
