Exhibit to show student artwork
Springville Museum of Art will feature talented young artists
SPRINGVILLE Seventy-three high schools throughout Utah submitted more than 850 pieces of art to the Springville Museum of Art for the "35th Annual Utah All-State High School Art Show."
The largest show of its kind across the nation, the exhibition allows visitors to recognize and enjoy the remarkable gifts that rest in the hands of young students.
The exhibition features a wide range of artistic expression, from the serene, traditional landscape to a gigantic abstracted spider constructed with black wire and string.
Of the art submitted to the museum this year, 343 works were selected for display in the museum's main galleries.
Jurors with expertise in a variety of mediums judged the pieces and awarded outstanding artists scholarship funds, national awards and a number of other recognitions.
The purpose of the exhibition is to honor those students whose talent, creativity and dedication to the arts goes beyond the usual mark.
Virgil Jacobsen, curator of education at the Springville Museum of Art, said, "This exhibition is a wonderful opportunity for the people of Utah to see the emerging talent that our young people possess."
