SPANISH FORK Sterling D. Jones, 89, a former Utah County Commission chairman, died Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2007, at his home.
Mr. Jones served as a Utah County commissioner for 10 years, six as chairman. He also served as justice of the peace, a deputy sheriff, and Republican Party district and county chairman.
He was the first president of the Central Utah Water Conservancy District, president and member of the board of the Eldred Foundation, chairman of the local Farm Bureau and director of the Utah County Road Department.
Funeral services will be Monday at 2 p.m. at the Spanish Fork West Stake Center, 360 N. 650 West. Friends may call today from 5-8 p.m. at the Jones Historic Home, 143 S. Main St., Spanish Fork, and at the church from 12:45 to 1:45 p.m. Monday. Burial will be in Spanish Fork Cemetery.
