For the second time since 2004, the University of Utah announced its head basketball coach will not return the following season.

And once again, the Utes' next opponent is BYU.

Just one day before the regular-season finale at the Marriott Center, Utah coach Ray Giacoletti announced his resignation Friday, setting up a scenario similar to the one the program experienced with its previous coach.

On Jan. 28, 2004, Rick Majerus said that the 2003-04 season would be his last at the school. Three days later, his team, led by assistant coach Kerry Rupp, staged a memorable comeback to defeat the Cougars at the Huntsman Center, 64-56.

The Utes trailed by 15 points at halftime but rallied behind 21-point performances from both Nick Jacobson and Andrew Bogut.
