Utah State

GYMNASTICS: Utah State (6-5, 4-2) will host Alaska-Anchorage (0-8) on Friday in the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum at 6:30 p.m. The Aggies scored a season-high team score Friday to beat Southern Utah's season-high score, 195.675 to 194.700. Also, Utah State gymnast Megan Tschida was named WAC Specialist of the Week for her performance on floor at home against Southern Utah. Tschida, a junior from St. Paul, Minn., scored a 9.9.

Weber State

TENNIS: The Weber State women's tennis team will travel to Greeley, Colo., for a three-match set. The 'Cats will open the road swing — and the Big Sky Conference season — with a match against Northern Colorado on Friday. The second match will be against Air Force on Saturday and the final match on Sunday.

Southern Utah

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL: Sophomore Anne Westwood and freshman Aubrey Mackintosh each received Mid-Continent Conference honors Wednesday. Westwood was named all-conference second-team, while Mackintosh was one of five named to the all-newcomer team.

GYMNASTICS: Southern Utah will continue its season today as the Thunderbirds compete for the third time in seven days when the team travels to Iowa City, Iowa, for a meet with the No. 24-ranked Hawkeyes.

Utah Valley

SOFTBALL: Freshman Lindsay Dyer has been named Division I Independent co-player of the week for performances last week at the SUU Invitational. Dyer shared the award with Laurel Pipkin of North Dakota State. Dyer was 6-for-12 with two doubles and four RBIs. Wolverines (3-5) travel to No. 2 Arizona State where they will play five games in the Wilson/Demarini Sun Devil Invitational. UVSC plays North Florida (6-7) and Houston (13-6) on Friday, UC Santa Barbara (10-3) and Creighton (8-1) on Saturday and Arizona State (17-1) on Sunday.

Cross country

ACADEMICS: The men's and women's cross country teams from both BYU and Weber State were named Division I All-Academic by the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association. To be honored as an All-Academic Team, teams must compete in an NCAA regional meet and have at least a cumulative team GPA of 3.0 during the 2006 fall term.
