Helped: Soccer fans, who will be watching the Real Salt Lake 2008 season games from a brand-new stadium in Sandy.

Hurt: Undocumented immigrants' sense of security, now that some law officers will be deputized to enforce immigration laws. (This changes if HB105 doesn't pass, up for vote in Senate.)

Helped: Game store clerks who will not have to worry about committing a felony by selling a violent video game to a mature looking 17-year-old.

Hurt: Identity thieves, some of whom now face tougher penalties.

Helped: Undocumented college and university students who can continue to pay in-state tuition.

Hurt: Notary publics posing as attorneys, who now face a misdemeanor charge if they don't disclose that they can't legally provide legal advice.

Helped: Families of military personnel who are killed while serving their country by granting tuition waivers for their spouses and children of service members.

Hurt: Members of the John Birch Society, who did not see a resolution chastising President Bush for an international highway project pass the full Legislature.

Helped: Southern Utahns who, without legislative absolution, would have owed the state more than $5 million toward money loaned to help them recover from deadly floods.

Hurt: Boy Scouts and other youths in an organized activity 14 years and older who will not receive the same exemptions from a fishing license requirement as their younger friends.

Helped: Utah veterans by creating a new Department of Veterans Affairs to replace the existing state division dealing with their needs.

Hurt: Commuters who enjoy watching the sunset or sunrise on crowded east-west streets, as studies for improved routes along the Wasatch Front were approved.

Helped: Scrap metal thieves by not passing a bill that would have made it harder for them to sell stolen metal and copper wire.

Hurt: Married couples with children wanting a quick divorce who will now have to pay for and go through a trial separation period and enroll in counseling.
