Low-income Utahns fare OK in budget

More than $60M allocated for health and human services

• $5 million for physically or mentally disabled Utahns who receive modest monthly stipends through the state's General Assistance program

• $3.2 million for child-care subsidies for low-income parents

• $2.7 million for mental health services for indigent or uninsured adults and children

• $2.5 million for substance abuse treatment for incarcerated Utah mothers

• $2.5 million for rate increases for Medicaid providers

• $2.2 million for physically or developmentally disabled children participating in the Baby Watch/Early Intervention program

• $2.2 million for dental and vision services for Medicaid beneficiaries

• $530,000 for the state's Birth Defects Network

• $270,000 for caseload growth in the Medical Examiner's Office.

Health and human services budget:

$4 million for the Children's Health Insurance Program

$1 million to disabilities waiting list

$1.2 million for continuing care for people with disabilities
