Those wishing to contribute to the community-wide effort to enable 17-year-old American Fork resident Travis Ashton to go to Hangzhou, China, for stem-cell treatment can do so in a number of ways.
Travis sustained severe brain damage in a car accident six years ago. He has had to relearn to walk, eat and read, but still cannot speak and doesn't have use of his right arm.
A gift-to-minors account has been established in his name at Chase Bank. Dorothy Thurman, a consultant for Scentsy, a wickless candle company, is donating 20 percent of her sales until the end of March to help Travis. Her Web site is www.scentsy.com/DorothyT.
Contours Express women's gym will donate the enrollment fee ($49) of those who join the gym between now and March 17 to Travis. The gym is located at 356 N. 750 West in the Meadows Shopping Center in American Fork.
The Ashton family has also created their own Web site, travisashton.com, where supporters can donate as well as find out more about Travis.
