Wrote Lawrence in Sunday's Daily News: "The one player who has been discussed in more trade speculation in recent years than any other was rumored to be going to the Jazz ... That deal could be revisited around draft time or next February, when Maggette again will lead the league in trade talk."

TRADE TALK II: The Denver Post's Marc Spears shed additional light Sunday on why Philadelphia traded veteran forward Alan Henderson to Utah as a means of seeking relief from the luxury tax the NBA imposes on teams that overspend.

Wrote Spears: "Word is the NBA called the Sixers on the eve of the league's trade deadline ... to tell them they miscalculated their payroll and were slightly over the $65.4 million (luxury tax threshold). The penalty for being over ... is a $1 fine for every dollar over the (threshold). By dealing Henderson ... the Sixers were safe from a luxury tax fine."

The Jazz will decide soon if they'll waive Henderson.

NEW NICKNAME: The Lakers will play Utah tonight without big man Vladimir Radmanovic, who's out about two months after separating a shoulder while snowboarding for the first time during a recent NBA All-Star Weekend visit to Park City.

According to the Los Angeles Daily News, Lakers star Kobe Bryant has tagged Radmanovic with the new nickname "Slalom."
