USU Extension to offer pruning demonstration

PROVO — Utah State University Extension's annual fruit tree pruning demonstrations will begin in Utah County in early March.

They are free to the public. The schedule is listed below.

Call in advance to reserve a spot.

• Monday, March 12, 2 to 4 p.m. at Marin Unrau's residence, 733 E. 300 North, Orem, 426-9529. Pruning: apple, walnut, peach, nectarine and grapes.

• Monday, March 19, 2 to 4 p.m. at Phil Shumway's residence, 890 S. 725 West, Orem, 225-2377. Pruning: apple, peach, prune, apricot and grapes.

• Thursday, March 1, 2 to 4 p.m. at Barbara Martel's residence, 267 S. 280 West, Lindon, 226-2994. Pruning: variety of trees and shrubs.

• Friday, March 16, 2 to 4 p.m. at Emily Rowberry's residence, 5763 W. 10680 North, Highland, 763-7823. Pruning: apricot, pear, nectarine, two peach, English walnut, red and green Golden Delicious, red plum, greengage plum.

• Tuesday, March 27, 2 to 4 p.m. at Mark Evans' residence, 397 N. 600 East, Payson, 465-2416. Pruning: apple, plum, apricot, peach, cherry and raspberries.

• Tuesday, March 13, 2 to 4 p.m. at Virginia Taylor's residence, 9852 S. 5000 West, Payson, 465-0252. Pruning: apple, peach, apricot, pear, plum, Roseason and two acres of old cherry.

• Wednesday, March 14, 2 to 4 p.m. at Rene Luthi's residence, 945 N. 500 East, Spanish Fork, 798-9233. Pruning: Golden Delicious apple, red delicious, apricot, pear, walnut, peach, red plum, greengage plums.

• Friday, March 2, 2 to 4 p.m. at Sharon Sims' residence, 917 S. 1100 East, Spanish Fork, 798-1848. Pruning: cherry, peach, apricot, nectarine, pear, grapes, raspberries and blackberries.
