SNOW GOOSE FESTIVAL

The 10th annual Snow Goose Festival will feature the sights and sounds of thousands of white snow geese flying and feeding.

The geese are near the Gunnison Bend Reservoir west of Delta. The festival will run Friday through Sunday and admission is free.

"Spotting scopes will be set up so participants can get a close view of the geese. Wildlife personnel will also be available to answer any questions you might have," said Bob Walters, watchable wildlife coordinator for the DWR.

On Saturday, there will be free wildlife-related workshops and arts and crafts and photography exhibits.

"The geese usually feed in fields that surround the reservoir early in the morning. Then they fly back to the reservoir about 10:30 a.m.," Walters said. "They usually stay at the reservoir until about 4 to 6 p.m., and then they fly out to the fields again to feed."

For information call Walters at 801-538-4771, the DWR's Southern Region office at 435-865-6100, or the Delta Area Chamber of Commerce at 435-864-4316.

ONE STEP HITS PARK CITY

Chicago's One Step at a Time Camp will visit the National Ability Center in Park City again this winter. This will be the camp's 15th year at the center. Activities will begin on Saturday.

The two non-profit organizations provide recreational opportunities for people of all abilities and integrates family members and peers into the experience.

One Step, a program operated by the Children's Oncology Services, hosts camps for children with cancer. Many children between the ages of 10-19 acquired a physical disability as a result of their cancer treatment, and the camps offer outdoor recreation without interrupting necessary medical attention.

This year more than 25 children from Chicago, northern Indiana, Wisconsin and Illinois will hit the slopes to enjoy Utah's famous snow and world-class terrain with the National Ability Center. In addition to four days of skiing, participants will get sleigh rides and take part in the ice rocket program at the Utah Olympic Park.

For more information on One Step, contact Jessica Kunzer at 435-200-0990 or at jessicak@DiscoverNAC.org.

HEBER WINTERFEST

Heber Valley will host its annual Winterfest on March 3 and will feature "Fear No Ice," an extreme ice sculpting show, and a fireworks display as part of the National Junior Olympics opening ceremonies at Soldier Hollow.
