The House on Tuesday passed a slightly different version of a bill that would allow a 6-year-old to drive an off-road vehicle, such as a four-wheeler or motorcycle.
The bill was rejected on a 37-37 tie vote on Monday.
The sponsor, Rep. Aaron Tilton, R-Springville, said lowering the age from 8 years old to 6 would help families spend time together.
"There are quite a few people who expressed interest in being able to recreate with their family including their children," Tilton said.
The amended version of the bill would require an adult, age 21 or over, supervise OHV drivers who are younger than 12 years old.
The bill was also changed to allow the State Board of Parks and Recreation to set the appropriate size guidelines for OHVs that drivers who are 10 years old or younger can drive.
HB237 passed by a margin of 40-29. The bill will now move to the Senate for consideration and committee assignment.
