Honoring the sacrifice

The family of Pvt. Dan Dolan, who was killed in Iraq in 2006, attends a ceremony in the Utah House Tuesday during which the governor and lawmakers honored families of Utah military service members who have died in Iraq and Afghanistan. Dolan's sister Michelle, 17, listens with parents Fay and Tim Dolan. Below left is a sample of the special Gold Star license plate, which, under SB33, would be given to the families. Gov. Jon Huntsman Jr. thanked families for the sacrifice of their loved ones. "We all feel this together," Huntsman said of their painful losses. "We love you. We care about you." During the special presentation on the House floor, lawmakers stood as the family members were presented with a Gold Star citation of honor. "May we never forget their sacrifice and may we always show the greatest respect to them and their families," Rep. Kerry Gibson, R-West Weber, said.
