PROVO A man shot by a former Lehi police officer last year was arrested Saturday.
Craig Trimble, 36, was arrested by the Utah County Major Crimes Task Force, which served a search warrant on his house. Task force officers who conducted the search said they found underage teenagers using marijuana, alcohol and steroids.
Trimble gained notoriety last year when he was shot by former Lehi police officer Art Henderson. Trimble was driving with Natalie Barnes Henderson through Lehi when Henderson starting chasing them, firing his gun out of the car window.
Trimble was hit three times, and he reminded 4th District Court Judge Anthony Schofield of that fact during a hearing Tuesday morning.
"You remember last year, in Lehi, when that guy got shot?" Trimble said via video screen from the Utah County Jail. "Yeah, I was the guy who got shot."
He asked the judge for a bail that was "decent" so he could get out and take care of his leg, which was injured in the shooting, as well as care for his children and his fiancee, Natalie Barnes Henderson.
Trimble said he hoped for a low bail because the family had been saving for a trip to Disneyland. The trip, Trimble said, was to help Henderson's children, who have dealt with the death of their father, who hanged himself in the Salt Lake Metro Jail while awaiting trial on charges of attempted aggravated murder.
Trimble was booked into the Utah County Jail for investigation of possession of a dangerous weapon by a restricted person and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
Lehi city had received multiple complaints from neighbors about the occupants of the home near 1800 N. 2600 West and forwarded them on to the Utah County Major Crimes Task Force, said Task Force Lt. Mike Forshee.
Saturday night, the task force found 14 people in the home, drinking, using marijuana and steroids. Many of the people at the home were under 18, Forshee said.
Eleven misdemeanor citations were issued to a combination of juveniles and adults, and misdemeanor citations are pending against Henderson, Forshee said.
Two large knives were also found in Trimble's room, which violates his status as a restricted person.
Trimble is on parole through the Utah State Prison for charges of possession of a weapon by a restricted person and possession of a controlled substance from 2001 and 2002, said Utah Department of Corrections spokesman Jack Ford.
Trimble and Henderson filed a lawsuit Jan. 26 seeking financial compensation from Trimble's insurance company, California Casualty, as well as Art Henderson's estate.
Ford said Trimble's parole officer had submitted a request to the Board of Pardons for a termination of parole date, which had been looked into, but not completed.
