Just days after North Salt Lake and Salt Lake City reached a settlement in a fight over 80 acres of foothill open space, Sen. Dan Eastman, R-Bountiful, killed a bill he had sponsored to assist North Salt Lake in the fight.

SB130 was pulled from the Senate calendar on Monday afternoon, and filed. The bill would have allowed North Salt Lake to annex property that it owns into its boundaries without the permission of another jurisdiction.

The 80 acres that North Salt Lake and Salt Lake City was fighting over was owned by North Salt Lake, but within Salt Lake City's jurisdiction. The two cities had sued each other over control of the land, and a court date was scheduled for today.

On Friday, the two cities reached a settlement in which Salt Lake City will buy a portion of the land.
