SUE COTTER, owner of Woodhenge Press, whose expertise in letterpress printing and painting qualifies her to keynote an evening, "The Art of the Book," Wednesday, 5:30-8:30 p.m. Utah Museum of Fine Arts, U. campus. Cotter will teach a workshop on bookmaking and another workshop will be held on pop-up books.
JESSIE L. EMBRY, author of seven books and associate director, Charles Redd Center for Western Studies, Brigham Young University, will give the Annaley Naegle Redd Lecture: "The Livestock Industry as a Western American Business," Tuesday, 7 p.m., Harold B. Lee Library auditorium, BYU, Provo.
ANDY HOFFMANN, poet and essayist, will present "Even Shadows Pass: Meditations on the End of Time," readings from his work, while TULLY CATHEY and DAN BOYER provide musical accompaniment on the guitar, Wednesday, 7 p.m., Salt Lake City Main Library.
ANDREA HOLLANDER BUDY, Writer in Residence at Lyon College and the author of several poetry collections, including "Woman in the Painting," "The Other Life" and "House without a Dreamer," will deliver a noon lecture, Friday, Harold B. Lee Library auditorium, BYU, Provo.
SARA ZARR, author of "Story of a Girl," a young people's book published by Little, Brown and Company, will read from and sign copies of her book, Saturday, 2 p.m., The King's English Bookshop, 1511 S. 1500 East. Zarr is a resident of Salt Lake City.
L.C. LEWIS, author of "Free Men and Dreamers: Dark Sky at Dawn," will sign copies of her book, Friday, 2-3 p.m., Seagull Book, 31 W. 10600 South, Sandy; and Saturday, 3-4 p.m., Seagull Book, 242 E. 6400 South, Murray.
ROGER KAHN, critically acclaimed sports writer, author of "The Boys of Summer," will deliver the prestigious Dewey Lecture, Saturday, March 3, 7:30 p.m., Salt Lake City Main Library auditorium. Free tickets to Kahn's lecture will be available, Saturday, Feb. 24, at all City Library locations. Tickets for a pre-lecture reception for Kahn, including reserved seating for the lecture and a signed copy of the book, may be purchased at the Library Store, 210 E. 400 South tickets are $40 each or $30 each if three or more tickets are purchased at the same time.
