Tanning-salon measure awaits guv's signature
The House on Wednesday passed SB52, sponsored by Sen. Pat Jones, D-Holladay, with a 41-23 vote. The bill now goes to Gov. Jon Huntsman Jr. for his signature.
SB52 requires parents to personally visit tanning salons every 12 months and sign a consent form for their children. It also allows parents to specify the number of tanning sessions allowed in each year-long period.
The measure implements statewide requirements on teen tanning. Davis County already requires parental consent, but health officials say teens often skirt the regulation by crossing county lines.
