Bruce T. Reese, president and chief executive officer of Salt Lake-based Bonneville International Corp., has been named "America's best broadcaster."

Radio Ink, a leading radio industry trade magazine, named Reese to the honor at the 16th annual Radio Ink Radio Wayne Awards in Dallas Monday.

The Radio Wayne Awards recognize outstanding radio station sales and management professionals.

"Bruce Reese is indeed America's finest," said Eric Rhoads, publisher and CEO of Radio Ink. "We are honored to give this prestigious award to such a quality broadcaster. When we created these Radio Wayne Awards 16 years ago, we wanted to honor people in the radio industry who make things happen on the streets and at the station level."

As president and CEO of Bonneville, Reese oversees the operations of 31 radio stations, an NBC-affiliated television station, KSL Ch. 5, and related operating divisions.

In the Salt Lake radio market, Bonneville owns and operates KSL AM/FM, KRSP, KSFI and KUTR-AM.

Reese joined Bonneville in 1984 and became general counsel in 1985. He was named executive vice president of Bonneville in 1991 and was appointed to his current position in 1996. He currently serves as the joint-chairman of the Radio and Television Boards for the National Association of Broadcasters and is on the Radio Advertising Bureau Board of Directors.

Under Reese's leadership, Bonneville has stated goals of being a values-driven company comprised of values-driven people and to make a difference in the communities where it operates.

Bonneville owns stations in Chicago; San Francisco; Washington, D.C.; Phoenix; St. Louis; and Salt Lake City.

Reese was one of seven Radio Wayne Award winners this year.
