As part of an effort by Salt Lake Mayor Rocky Anderson and the city police department to promote pedestrian and bicycle safety, accident statistics were released Friday.
The data showed 14 auto-pedestrian accidents last month in the city, including one that was fatal. Four auto-bicycle accidents occurred, but no one was seriously injured.
In addition, officers issued 33 citations to motorists for pedestrian infractions, such as crosswalk violations, and 22 tickets to pedestrians for violations such as jaywalking.
In 2006, there were 13 fatal accidents on Salt Lake's roads. Nine of those were the result of an auto-pedestrian collision.
Police say they will issue these statistics monthly.
